The TNChatZone app is a chat app for people in Tamil Nadu: public rooms for every district and topic, password-protected private rooms, and quick games to play between chats. I designed and built the whole product – the Android app, the website at tnchatzone.com and the admin panel.
What I built for the TNChatZone app
- A Flutter Android app with live chat delivered through Firebase, so messages appear instantly even on a shared-hosting backend.
- A PHP + MySQL backend and admin panel for accounts, rooms, moderation, coins, games and reports.
- 19 HTML5 games – including Tamil classics like Pallanguzhi and Aadu Puli Attam – that run inside the app and in the browser, so new games go live without an app update.
- A one-way coin economy with daily rewards, a lucky spin, missions and gifts – coins can never be cashed out.
- The website with the games, a Tamil Nadu quiz, a blog and the privacy, terms and account-deletion pages Google Play requires.
Design approach
Chat apps live or die on how quickly people find others to talk to, so rooms are grouped by district and interest, and Tamil text is first-class throughout the interface. Games and coins give people a reason to come back between conversations.
Status
The TNChatZone app is in testing on Google Play and will be available to everyone soon – see the TNChatZone app page. See more works.
