Case Converter

Switch text between UPPER, lower, Title and Sentence case, or camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case for code.

Runs in your browser – nothing you type is sent anywhere.

This free case converter changes the capital letters in your text with one click. Fix a heading typed with Caps Lock on, tidy up a title, or turn a phrase into a variable name for your code. The text never leaves your browser.

How to use the case converter

  1. Type or paste your text into the box.
  2. Click the style you want: UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case or CONSTANT_CASE.
  3. Check the result and press Copy.

Cases for writing

CaseExampleTypical use
UPPER CASEBOOK YOUR SEAT TODAYShort labels and tags. Avoid it for long text; it is harder to read and feels like shouting.
lower casebook your seat todayTags, usernames and a clean starting point before another change
Title CaseBook Your Seat TodayHeadings, book and film titles, menu items
Sentence caseBook your seat todayBody text, buttons and most interface labels

Many design systems now prefer sentence case for buttons and headings, because it reads more like normal speech. Title Case rules differ between style guides; some keep short words such as of, and and in in lower case. After converting, check names of people and places, such as Thanjavur or Priya, and short forms such as GST or HTML. No case converter can know that these need capitals, so fix them by hand.

Cases for code

Programmers cannot use spaces in names, so they join words in different ways. Each language and tool has its own habit:

CaseExampleWhere you see it
camelCasetotalPriceJavaScript variables and functions
PascalCaseShoppingCartClass names and React components
snake_casetotal_pricePython variables and functions, SQL column names
kebab-casetotal-priceCSS class names, file names and URL slugs
CONSTANT_CASEMAX_ITEMSConstants in JavaScript, Python and PHP

A quick example: a product field called Delivery Pin Code becomes deliveryPinCode in JavaScript, delivery_pin_code in a Python script or SQL table, delivery-pin-code as a CSS class, and DELIVERY_PIN_CODE for a fixed setting. Paste the label once and copy each style as you need it, instead of retyping and risking a typo that breaks your code.

Being consistent matters more than which style you choose. Pick the convention your language or team uses and stick to it. Our lessons on JavaScript variables, Python variables and CSS variables and design tokens show these naming styles in real code.

Doing it in JavaScript

Upper and lower case are built into JavaScript with toUpperCase() and toLowerCase(). The other styles need a little code that splits the text into words and joins them again, which is what the case converter does for you:

const text = 'total order price';
const words = text.toLowerCase().split(' ');

console.log(words.join('_'));  // total_order_price
console.log(words.join('-'));  // total-order-price
console.log(words.map((w, i) => i ? w[0].toUpperCase() + w.slice(1) : w).join(''));  // totalOrderPrice

Tip: Case changes are one-way. Once text is in UPPER or lower case, the original capitals are lost. Keep a copy of the original if you might need it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Both join words with no spaces and start each new word with a capital. camelCase starts with a small letter (orderTotal), PascalCase starts with a capital (OrderTotal).

Should headings be in Title Case or Sentence case?

Either works if you use it consistently. Sentence case is easier to read and is the default in many modern interfaces; Title Case is common in print and in many English-language publications.

Does it work with Tamil or Hindi text?

Scripts such as Tamil and Devanagari have no capital letters, so case changes leave them as they are. Any English words in the text are still converted.

Is my text stored?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
